  • Acidifier

    Tends to maintain or to regulate the naturally acid skin pH which can become unbalanced due to micro-bacterial aggression, sun exposure, diet…

  • Activates the cell renewal

    Improves the exchanges by providing nutritive elements to stimulate cell metabolism.

  • AHA (Fruit Acids)

    Alpha-hydroxyl-acids : found in most fruits. They act on cell cohesion. Low concentrations are excellent moisturizers. The higher their concentration, when placed in an acid medium, the higher their exfoliating power. For maximum efficiency and gentleness, YON-KA has carefully selected and exactly dosed:

    • glycolic acid (sugar cane, pineapple)
    • lactic acid (cranberry, maple, passion fruit)
    • tartaric acid (grape, citrus)
    • citric acid (orange, lemon)

    These AHA are known in cosmetology to help:

    • the faster elimination of dead cells,
    • the activation of cell renewal,
    • the improvement of the complexion and the reduction of wrinkles, spots, dry and dull skin, the gentle effect due to their moisturizing properties.

  • Algae

  • Analgesic

    Pain relief.

  • Anti-desquamation

    Avoids the excess elimination of epidermis cells.

  • Anti-free radical

    Neutralizes free radicals or prevents their appearance.

  • Anti-inflammatory

    Prevents the appearance of redness, warmness, pain or swelling due to a traumatic skin aggression.

  • Antiseptic

    Destroys microbes and prevents their development.

  • Aromatherapy

    Science of the use of aromatic oils or essential oils for therapeutic purposes.

  • Aromatic oil

    It is used in “aromatherapy”. Also called essential oil, the aromatic oil is the volatile and fragrant part of the plant. Aromatic oils quickly penetrate the body, both through the skin and the respiratory tract.

  • Astringent

    Tightens live tissue. It may produce a superficial lifting effect.

  • Atony

    Reduction in the normal tone of tissue (for example, skin tissue) or an organ.

    Antiseptic: destroys bacteria.

  • Borneol

    Natural substance produced by the Dryobalonops Camphora tree with bactericide, circulatory and invigorating properties.

  • Calming – soothing

    Soothes irritation, tingling or sensation of heat.

  • Carob

    Ceratonia Siliqua. A highly softening gel-gum is obtained from this pod that favours skin hydration and participates in exfoliation, therefore in oxygenation.

  • Clarifying

    There are two ways to clarify the complexion:

    • by improving the elimination of dead cells,
    • by improving the oxygenation and the coloration of the melanin in the superficial layers of the epidermis.

  • Essential oil

    It is used in a science called “aromatherapy”. Also called aromatic oil, the essential oil is the volatile and fragrant part of the plant. Essential oils quickly penetrate the body, both through the skin (skin action) and the respiratory tract (psychotropic action).

    Activates the elimination of dead cells by accelerating natural desquamation.

  • Filtering

    Absorbing UV rays by limiting their skin penetration.

  • Firming

    Can act on two levels :

    • superficial : lifting effect by contracting the proteic fibers,
    • deep : thanks to the essential oils, by stimulation of the skin blood circulation and the improvement in tissue nutrition.

  • Free radicals

    They are unstable molecules produced by the organism. Under the effect of certain factors (pollution, poor diet, smoking…), the free radicals become true poisons that destroy some of our cells. They contribute to skin ageing.

  • Safety

    1 – In vitro tolerance test following recognized alternative methods

    • Assessment of the potential irritating action by determining the cytotoxicity
    • Assessment of the potential irritating action by application on fibroblats single coating
    • Assessment of the potential irritating action by application on the chorio-allantoic membrane of an embryonated chicken egg– aka HET CAM test

    The method is chosen according to the product being tested.
    These tests are designed to evaluate ocular (eyes) tolerance

    2 – In vivo tolerance test under the supervision of an Investigating MD

    • Assessment of the primary skin irritation –patch test-
    • Assessment of the cumulative irritation and the skin sensitizing when used in compliance with the regular recommended use of the product. (use test, repeated epicutaneaous applications, photo-toxicity…)

    The size of the volunteers’ panel, the duration of the test and the type of tests conducted by the investigating MD is in direct relation with the formula and the recommendations for use.
    Each and every volunteer is followed by an MD, specialist in the field at stake (dermatologist, allergist, ophthalmologist…) who will see them prior, during and after the test is completed.

  • Soothing – calming

    Soothes irritation, tingling or sensation of heat.

  • Spa

    From the Latin “aquae sepadonae”, the spa was originally a place of water therapy. Today, the word refers to a non medical treatment centre providing well-being and relaxation.

  • Stimulating

    Includes different concepts of regeneration, firming and vaso-dilatation (improved exchange between the blood and the cells).

    Increases the diameter of the blood capillaries and the blood flow. It therefore improves cell exchanges by providing nutritive elements and oxygen.

  • Vaso-tonic

    Reinforces the blood capillaries resistance.
